Cookie Policy
Last updated:
ClipTap uses cookies and browser storage to run the Service, to remember choices you make in it, to understand how it is used, and to measure our advertising. This policy lists each kind and how to turn the optional ones off.
Contents
1.What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar browser feature that keeps data on your device and is not sent to our servers with every request.
2.Essential cookies
These are strictly necessary; the Service cannot work without them:
- Session cookies set by our authentication system when you sign in. They keep you signed in, identify your session to our servers, and expire when you sign out or after a period of inactivity.
- Security cookies used during sign-in flows, such as Google sign-in and app authorization, to protect against cross-site request forgery. They last only for the flow.
3.Local storage for preferences
The application stores interface preferences on your device — for example the last workspace you opened, panel sizes and layouts, view and filter choices, and unsent drafts — so they are still there next time. This data stays in your browser and you can clear it at any time.
4.Analytics cookies
We use these to understand how the Service is used:
- Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*, up to 2 years): which pages are visited and how people move through the Service.
- PostHog (ph_*, up to 1 year): how features are used once you are signed in, so we can improve them.
5.Advertising cookies
We use these to measure which ads bring people to the Service. When you sign up or buy credits we tell Google and Meta that the conversion happened, with your email address in hashed form, so they can match it to the ad you saw. We do not sell your personal information.
- ClipTap campaign cookie (cliptap_touch, 90 days): the campaign or website that first brought you here and the latest one, read once when you create an account.
- Google Ads (_gcl_*, 90 days): whether you arrived from a Google ad, so a sign-up or purchase can be credited to it.
- Meta Pixel (_fbp, _fbc, 90 days): the same for ads on Facebook and Instagram.
6.Third-party pages
When you pay, Stripe's checkout pages may set their own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud; those are governed by Stripe's privacy policy. When you sign in with Google, Google's pages do the same under Google's policies.
7.Your choices
You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings, or use a content blocker; the Service keeps working without analytics and advertising cookies. If you block essential cookies you will not be able to sign in.
You can also opt out at the source: Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and Meta's ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.
